Our Affiliation
Clayton Community Church is affiliated with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, which was officially born in 1981 and has grown to more than 175 churches throughout the United States and Argentina.
We affiliated with the EPC denomination because both they and we:
- are devoted to the essentials of the Christian faith
- recognize the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of every believer and every congregation
- desire a youth ministry with Christ at the center
- are concerned that bureaucracy has replaced Jesus Christ as the religion in many churches
- view the church as an organism, not an organization
- are committed to evangelism locally and abroad
- desire to nurture and support new congregations
- believe that the local church has rights to self-governance
What does "Presbyterian" mean?
There are several Presbyterian denominations in the U.S. What they have in common is a representative form of government: Each church's pastor is a representative to the Presbytery. The Presbytery, a geographical grouping of churches, sends representatives to the General Assembly. The General Assembly makes decisions for the denomination and meets once a year.
