The Dance Ministry at Clayton Community Church is in constant motion! As in dance, some movements are fun and joyful while others express deeper, more difficult feelings. This new season, the ministry sends off two of our beautiful, beloved dancers, Anna Gibbons and Amy Cleland to Cal Poly and Questa College. We will miss them greatly, but I know they will be a blessing in many ways to the students and professors they meet at college, and I look forward to them coming back and dancing with us whenever they can!
Our very popular Wednesday dance classes will resume at the end of September for ages 4-7 and 8 thru high school. Taught by Meghan Hudson, the classes are open to the community. It was so exciting last spring to see the progress the dancers made during the 12-week session; parents and friends were treated to a recital on the last day of class. I have heard many stories of the ways in which the classes were a blessing. Girls from our church brought friends who wouldn’t otherwise attend church or any church activity and girls who were intimidated by studio dance classes felt welcomed in our nonthreatening environment. One mom called me to tell me how she was chatting with another mom in the park about her daughter attending our Wednesday class. The other mom couldn’t believe that we would offer dance classes for no charge, simply offer a service out of love and joy.
In the past, I’ve held dance workshops and Pilate’s classes for adult women, and I feel the time is coming for adult women to be a stronger presence in our dance ministry. I believe that the most important muscle a dancer can develop is her heart, and we women have a wealth of heart and life to share through dance. I welcome anyone with a dancer’s heart to join me and let’s see what God has to say through us! Please check the church bulletin for workshop/class times, as I’m still working that out!
IN THE WORKS: Guys! Wanna dance?? I have one lone male willing to step out and take a literal leap of faith! If any other guys with a heart for Jesus and a little rhythm want to join him, please contact me! It's fun and manly!
The CCC Dance Troupe has represented our church as guest dancers both locally and at the church in Belize. I hope we can expand this aspect of our ministry and I pray that God will use us as a blessing. Meghan and I will be partnering in leading the Troupe this season and we are excited about the new ways God is inspiring us to proclaim His message and tell about who He is through dance.
For information about any of the classes, or to inquire about joining the Dance Troupe, please contact Brenda Ameli.
